Dragon Age Origins Walkthrough

Defeating a High Dragon might be challenging. You have to be prepared for th battle. But it is rewarding.

To summon a High Dragon go to the Mountain Top through the Ruin Temple in Frostback Mountains and use the Horn.

Loot the Dragon’s corpse and enjoy.

   There really weren’t many good items on the High Dragon. A party that is able to reliably kill it on Hard or Nightmare should easily have better items than it drops. Cold weapons and spells are obviously useful, despite what your chilly surroundings might suggest.

   When you summon it, it will fall from the sky directly on your party and he’ll likely kill at least one of them.

   If you summon it inside the circular ruined chapel(?) to the left (looking straight to the area exit), if you’re lucky, it’ll get stuck and cannot turn around so you may avoid all of his most powerful attacks.

   i dont know evey time i have come across the dragon to summon it i have had to smack a gong sitting on the right side of the hill

   It’s diffrent for pc and 360 i belive. It’s a gong for 360 and a horn for pc. The drop are rather lame, i have killed him 3 time with diffrent classes i have found rouge does best against him as traps and bombs work like a treat . Place trap before you ring the gong or blow the horn and then bombard him with bombs while mages ice him over

   The dragons are a tad to easy on Hard methinks.
   Using a party of Shale, Wynne (Spirit/Blood), Zevram (Assasin/Ranger) and main (Blood/Spirit) I can just let my grp kill him with me sitting and drinking coffee and just watching the scripts to the job.

   Erm… Dragon scales and the heavy armor that you get from it ?

   If you look at the armor value, ’tis only the best one in the game… And what about the 70 % fire resistance on it ?

   The Dragon scale can get the light armor, heavy armor, or the plate armor. plate armor being the strongest but it takes alot to put on, but the fire resistance is worth it. I did it with 2 archer type’s, morrigan as a caster tank, and waynn as a healer. keep your distance and try to make sure everyone has some sort of fire resistant armor to make it easier. if your part is spread out enough it’ll only be able to attack one party member at a time. make sure everyone heals at 50% health to make sure no one dies (tactics edit). Morrigan’s area spells work very nicely, the High Dragon only moved 3 times when i versed it so it made it super easy for her to use her area spells. Dont forget to take the Dragon scale to Denerim and give it to the blacksmith. Enjoy the awesome armor (it also costs you 20 gold as well, so make sure to have the money as well)

   So can you fight the dragon later on?.. like after finishing the urn of sacred ashes quest and coming back and using the horn.. or will it be gone after leaving that area?.. pardon my noobness >.<

   I killed the high dragon easily with a group of 3 mages and one thief: Me, Morrigan, Wynne and Leliana. With fighters in party I believe that it’s more difficult, unless they’re archers with a huge DPS…

    Hi all killed with just Morrigan (others sleeping on the job) stay in the shade and it cant get at you just keeps flying over the top……

    i dont kno any good tatics kinda nooby here like recently started but a good lvl i want to kno wat equip i should use i got juggernaut and drake skin armour and i have a flaming fire meteor sword and ice faith axe

    you can use the gong if you dont have the horn, i never knew what people were talking about either when they mentioned horn.

    The high dragon was a piece of cake.

    Me – blood mage/spirit healer. (Level 18)
    Wynne
    Alistair
    Shale

    We just stayed in the middle while the dragon flew back and forth.

    Wynne got the credit for the kill, lol.

    i dont know what took you guys so long. i was an arcane mage but i only used spells and my staff. i had sten equipped with a double handed axe, he distracted it. while lelianna had ice arrows then elven flight. morrigana healed sten and attacked with ice spells. when sten died it was less than half health. then lelianna went in. and we finnished it then. about 15 minutes of fighting. did i mention we were only around level 11 each.
