To complete this quest you must first defeat the wave of undead.
Then you will be offered a meeting with Bann Teagan at the Mill.
Teagan gave you the ring allowing you to enter the Castle using an alternative route. Now you must infiltrate the Castle while he is entering through the front door.
You meet your old bloodmage friend. You can choose to release him from the prison or to keep him locked.
Infiltrate the castle. Remember that while doing so you might also finish Lost in the Castle and Skin Deep quests.
While on the Main Floor of the castle – head torwars Basement – Cellar (North-West). From there access the Courtyard.
(There is a Landmark Tree – might be useful later)
First defeat the archers on the right, try keeping your party behind, so the Revenant doesn’t engage in fight. Then defeat Revenant and his guardians.
Let the Knights inside by pulling the Lever next to the Gate and enter the Castle.
You will face a difficult decision: to kill the boy, to sacrifice his mother’s life using the blood magic or to seek for Mages’ help. Let’s head to the Circle Tower then and see what we can achieve.
Ask Irwing for help and return to Redcliffe Castle. On your way back you will be interrupted by the Darkspawn but it’s always a good opportunity to earn some XP, isn’t it?
Return to the Castle. Walk west to the room with a desk. You will find a gift for Alistair. Give it to him next time you are in a party camp.
In a locked room not so far from there yu will find the Chamberlain. He carries a key to the Castle Vault (on the second floor). If you have magic like Tempest cast it on the door to the room. Do it twice and you should kill the enemies without engaging in the battle.

You can loot the second floor but don’t approach the boy and don’t enter the room behind him. The Vault is located here.
If you decide to face the demon in the real world it will result in Connor dying. You might even enjoy a beautiful scene of a mother killing her own son.
If you want to do it ‘the right way’ speak to the First Enchanter and enter the Fade.
The pattern is as follows: Talk to Connor, fight the Demon, exit through the Fade Portal, talk to Connor, fight the Demon, exit etc… until you meent the Demon in her true form.

Hint: to make the job easier use mind/fire deffensive spell/potion run back torwards the portal, cast Tempest spell, fight the Demon, she will reappear in multiple instances and Tempest will take care of them immediately.. repeat that and you should survive.
Once the Demon is dead you will exit the Fade.
Next job: The Urn of Sacred Ashes.
After you obtain the Ashes return to Redcliffe Castle and speak to Teagan. It is time to Gather The Army.

I have convinced that Nial (the blood mage responsible for the poisoning of Arl) should battle instead of my NPC’s. He has quite good collection of combat spells (especially Paralysis, Drain Life and Lightning proved to be useful in fighting the demon). + all party members quite appreciated this choice.
Good solution, especially if you approach it early in the game.
I need to revive arl but how can i find these ashes or whatever?

Hey.. i did the ashes job before this quest and after i killed the demon and talk to teagan and cure the guy with the ashes.. he said im not ready to go the city.. “you not ready” and dont say what a have to do.. im kind stucked.. need help.
G1: The blood mage you convinced was Jowan; Niall is the fellow stuck in the Fade with you during Lost in Dreams.
You can persuade Senior Enchanter Irving to enter the fade in your absence with enough persuade. I had ~30 Cunning and Persuade 3. He has a decent repertoire of spells including the Lightning Line, the Glyphs and Heal. Not as potent in this area as Morrigan (in my opinion), but worth doing to see his responses.
As far as I know if you bring Irving or Morrigan into the fade to do battle with the Desire Demon you can’t convince the Demon to offer you any gifts. Irving straight up refuses to parlay, and Morrigan warns the Demon that she can’t be turned into an abomination, provoking an attack.
So much for Morrigan becoming a Blood Mage, this playthrough.
its a stupid question but i cant find Teagen after i obtained the ashes
yeah, i cant find tegan anywhere, i have the ashes talked to brother genetivi went to redcliffe castle and tegan is not where he is supposed to be
i use may main char in Fade a arcane warior it is easy and i have my char exp alot.bad english^^Y
in the courtyard how do you manage to engage the archers in one-to-one combat without attracting the revenant and his guards. the archers always start shooting arrows at me from the beginning of the stairs so if i approach the others come too.
The only way to get blood mage is if the main character goes into the Fade.
My suggestion is that ask the demon for arcane knowledge (blood mage specialization), that will unlock the class for you, then reload to fight her again, this time ask for talent points.
All of that can be done without persuasion, just pick the “right” choices, since the demon doesn’t really want to fight you anyways.
any tips for beating the remnant its just too strong…im a fighter with dual weapons and i got the dog and the witch…..its just too strong…i can lure the archers btw
The revnant isn’t that hard. When you speak to Teagan before going inside the castle you can ask him to have his knights waiting outside the courtyard. Then you just run to open the gate and there will be 4 knights to help you.
maybe this remnant is not strong, but the jugernout items remnanats are…. :S :S they are totaly immune to mages basic attacks… and w/o petrify they can easily wipe the gound with you…
the best way to deal with them is to use many DOT ( demage over time ) on them, if u are a mage… if not, use petrify with a companion and after, when it goes off, use stuns and cripples with a duelist or smth….
i cant get past the shambling corpses. they’re too many and too strong and i have no potions

press y to get to the whole ferelden map or triangle if u have ps3
