He asked me in a Sten kinda way, "if my strategy to defeat the darkspawn was to travel so far north, that north becomes south." After a few conversation options Sten decides he is taking control which leads to a one on one fight with Sten. After the fight was over Sten submits to you and rejoins your party, resulting in a nice boost to Sten's approval ratting of you. thought I’d also add that i had a random encounter with Sten while running through Haven.
